Thy Kingdom Come 2021 | 13th – 23rd May

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus.

Since its start in May 2016 God has grown Thy Kingdom Come from a dream of possibility into a movement. Christians from 172 countries have taken part in praying ‘Come Holy Spirit’, so that friends and family, neighbours and colleagues might come to faith in Jesus Christ.

This praying together has been across our diversity and differences as every person, household and church are encouraged to pray in their own way. According to our annual survey findings an astonishing percentage of people said they were praying for family and friends to come to faith in Jesus, and a significant number of people join in for the first time, we recognise there is much more we can do together to help Thy Kingdom Come be fully in the lifeblood of the Church.

Perthshire minister celebrates history of Scots Kirk in Rotterdam

Michael Alexander speaks to Rev John Russell about the history of the Scots Kirk in Rotterdam and the nine years he spent as minister there with a truly international congregation.

He is the globe-trotting kirk minister who recently celebrated 60 years since his ordination with a service in Perthshire.

But having been brought up in India and having worked in Germany, Scotland, Canada and Holland, the Rev John Russell will always have a special affinity with the Scots International Church in Rotterdam where he was minister for nine years.

The memories came flooding back for Mr Russell when he read a recent Courier feature about Newport-based broadcaster Billy Kay’s exploration of Scotland’s centuries-old relationships with the Low Countries of Europe.

World Day of Prayer 2020

World Day of Prayer takes place internationally on the first Friday of March every year.  In 2020 that will be March 6th  If you can’t celebrate World Day of Prayer on the first Friday in March, choose another date that works for your community and you can celebrate in symbolic solidarity with women around the world!

The WDP 2020 program is based on Jesus’ encounter with a person who, although positioned for healing, had not acted upon the opportunities given (John 5:2-9a). Jesus asked –“Do you want to be made well?”with the theme “Rise!  Take Your Mat and Walk”.  You are faced with this life-changing question. What are you going to do? Use this opportunity to reflect with your WDP group, community and ecumenical partners. Prayer and action are what link us together around the globe.
